Mo’ne Davis: Why Kids Matter Too

Children are often underestimated. It’s a true statement, unfortunately. They don’t get nearly enough credit as they deserve, because they can be challenging to deal with and downright embarrassing at times. Yet these wonderful little creatures are just trying to make their way in the world.

Each child has an almost endless amount of possibilities that lay in front of them. It’s our job as mothers and parents to nudge our children in the right direction. With the right guidance they can be anything they want. Just look at Mo’ne Davis!

For the first time in 60 years a Little League player graced the cover of Sports Illustrated at just 13 years old. She also became the first girl to throw a shutout in the Little League World Series.

Not only is her age impressive, but the fact that she has fans holding up signs saying “I want to throw like a girl” up at her games is utterly refreshing. As women we face discrimination, even in the most subtle ways, every day. Anything that chips away at the gender inequality that exists in our society is celebrated in our book.

Encourage your kids to be healthy, but more importantly encourage them to be whatever they want to be, without caring about what society thinks.
