Transform your kitchen into a place of sheer nostalgia with this classic dessert recipe. Strawberry shortcake has been enjoyed and perfected throughout the years, and this recipe is the result. Make a batch as soon as you can because it’s time to devour your favorite dessert.

- 1 1/2 lb. strawberries, stemmed and quartered
- 6 Tbs. sugar
- 2 C. flour
- 2 1/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. baking soda
- 3 Tbs. sugar
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 C. whipping cream
- Whipped Cream for topping
Directions:
- In a large bowl, combine strawberries with 3 Tbs. of sugar and refrigerate for at least 40 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 400 F.
Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, 3 Tbs. of sugar, and salt in a separate mixing bowl and add in heavy cream until well combined.
- Place mixture in an ungreased 8-inch square pan and bake for about 17 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove shortcake from pan and allow to cool for 20 minutes.
- Cut shortcake into 6 pieces and split each piece in half horizontally.
Spoon strawberries onto each shortcake bottom, top with a generous dollop of whipped cream and then the shortcake top.
