A little peek into the day in the life of a Real Life Mom:
6:00 a.m. 3-month-old baby wakes up and needs to be breastfed.
6:30 a.m. Decide that my shower can wait and sleep just feels too good.
7:00 a.m. Wake up my kindergartener and lay out his clothes for school. Go get dressed.
7:15 a.m. Check on kindergartener and wake him up again. Go downstairs to make breakfast for the boys.
7:30 a.m. Call upstairs to kindergartener to come and eat. Hear him bounce out of bed to actually get dressed this time.
7:40 a.m. Pack lunch for school. Wish I took the time to do it the night before. Threaten kindergartener to come and eat or else.
7:45 a.m. Kindergartener comes down to eat. Two-year-old wakes up with the fullest diaper in history. Chase 2 year old around the living room to get him dressed. Three-month-old starts to cry.
8:00 a.m. Finish changing 2-year-old's diaper. Change 3-month-old's diaper. Tell kindergartener to leave the rest of his breakfast and brush his teeth before he his late for school.
8:10 a.m. Lead the parade out to the car for school. Chase 2-year-old around back yard to get him in the car.
8:30 a.m. Get back home from dropping off kindergartenter to greet husband coming home from third shift. Chase 2-year-old to get him to come into the house. Leave 3-month-old asleep in infant car seat and pray I have enough time to cook breakfast for myself and husband and actually eat it.
9:00 a.m. Breastfeed 3-month-old. Burp him on my shoulder while putting the clean dishes in the diswasher away so I can put the dirty breakfast dishes in.
9:30 a.m. Husband goes to sleep. 3-month-old goes down for a nap. 2-year-old settles into morning PBS and his Little People airport (his favorite toy this week). I run around making three beds (the top bunk is always the hardest), rounding up dirty laundry and empty cups from late-night drink runs the night before.
11:30 a.m. Change 2-year-old's diaper. Change 3-month-old's diaper. Play peek-a-boo with the two boys. Smell an odd smell. Change 2-year-old's diaper again.
12:30 p.m. Finish breastfeeding again. Burp and change 3-month-old. Put baby in bouncy seat while making lunch for myself and 2-year-old. Remind 2-year-old to be quiet becasue Daddy is sleeping. Rock 3-month-old's bouncy seat with foot while cutting 2-year-old's sandwich into squares.
1:15 p.m. Help 2-year-old wash hands and face and brush teeth. Change 2-year-old's dirty and wet shirt. Lay 2-year-old down for nap. Wipe up water left on the sink from helping 2-year-old wash hands and face.
1:30 p.m. Put 3-month-old down for a nap. Run to the dryer to flip the laundry. Try to fold the two loads of clean laundry, match socks, put already folded laundry away. Clean toilet and bathroom sink. Promise myself that I will clean shower and floor tommorow. Consider taking shower when 3-month-old cires.
