I see it time and time again: The number-one challenge faced by new internet business owners is a lack of traffic. Obviously, if your website isn't getting any traffic, you're not generating any sales.

In this article, I've outlined six steps that you can do right now, to generate an avalanche of qualified leads to your website.

1.) Write an article. This should be timely, important to people right now and should not contain a sales pitch! The most important question you must be able to answer with your article: "Why would people want to read my article and hear what I have to say?"

2.) Make a list of the top 50 blogs and e-zines. Keep in mind that your list should reach the people you're interested in targeting and contain a high level of traffic.

3.) Write your email. This is the email that you will send to the list you created in step two. It should contain your article along with the following statement: "You can print my article for free as long as the tagline at the bottom of the article stays intact." Your tagline (a.k.a. a byline or bio) should state who you are, what you do, contain an incentive/offer, and most importantly, provide them with a link to your website url. For example: Tana Gudbranson is the marketing coach/consultant for new business owners and entrepreneurs. Her marketing tele-seminars have launched hundreds of successful small businesses. If you'd like to attend her free tele-seminar, "The 3 Big Secrets of Getting Booked on National TV", just go to her website and fill out the form.

4.) Write a press release. Your press release should contain the same tagline as your article... directing people to your website!

5.) Submit your press release. A quick way to submit your press release is to use a service such as, a well-known favorite in the industry.

6.) Use email marketing to attract repeat visitors. Getting lots of traffic to your site is great, but if you aren't collecting the contact information (names and email addresses) of visitors, there's a good chance they won't ever be back -- and you'll have absolutely no way of following up with them.

Believe it or not, giving away free content to other websites can generate an avalanche of traffic. Focus on implementing the six steps I’ve outlined… because this may be all you need to dramatically increase your traffic AND sales!
