I am loathe to cut into the pumpkins sitting on my front porch. The mess. The time commitment. The mess. My kids aren’t going to buy the old “We don’t need Jack-o-lanterns! Let’s leave the pumpkins whole!” act for much longer, what with Halloween just days away, but I think I may have found a solution that doesn’t involve a knife and pumpkin brains. Permapaque — opaque, permanent paint markers from Sakura of America — are perfect for those who can’t stand pumpkin guts
but want to do a little decorating before October 31. (And the paint actually stays on the pumpkins, even on frosty mornings.) The double ended markers work on glass, metal, plastic, wood, ceramic, pottery, vellum — pretty much any surface — so you can use them for holiday projects and decorating all year round.
$13 for four at Reuels.com.
Our friends at Momfinds.com have a great solution for enjoying the wonderful and warm smell of pumpkin pie without actually making one: Slatkin & Co. Ceramic Pumpkin Figural Candle. Made with a blend of fresh pumpkin, ground cinnamon, brown sugar and vanilla cream it smells delicious and comes in a cute pumpkin container you can re-use after the candle burns out.
$9.95 at Bathandbodyworks.com.
ChicoBags. Are. Awesome. Since these roomy bags fold up into a tiny, attached pouch, they are a great way to always keep reusable bags with you. These colorful and versatile bags will become indispensable in no time… I don’t leave home without mine.

Two things I hate: Piles of mail on the kitchen counter and not being able to find my keys. Enter this stylish key and letter holder, with a magnetic surface so you can just stick your keys on it and never have to do the deep dive into your purse again.
$12.99 at ContainerStore.com.
I know I need this — and I don’t even carry a purse most of the time. In fact, that’s why I need this; they’re all looped over doorknobs and stuffed into a corner of my closet right this very second. Come to think of it, it would probably work great for my kids’ hat collections, or for errant stuffed animals; each strap holds eight purses (or anything else you can slip onto a strap, I’m guessing). Adjustable, over-the-door storage just might be a busy, cluttered mom’s dream come true.
$14.95 (online only) at Target.com.
