I thought I would share my very favorite thing I do for myself every single morning.
Put it this way. This smoothie is like my wake up punch to the face. It’s my coffee, even though there is no caffeine in it.
IT WAKES ME UP!
(You with me now? Good. Pay attention.)
You’ll need:
- a blender
- 1 cup vanilla low-fat soy milk (I like Silk)
- 1 cup frozen blueberries (you can use fresh but I freeze my fresh ones so they double as a ‘coolant’ for this drink)
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (optional)
- 1 tablespoon of nut butter (I use almond butter or peanut butter)
- a banana (optional)
Blend and serve cold! That’s it!
I talked to my doctor about my frustration with not losing weight. It seems I’ve plateaued, which is very frustrating. So frustrating that I nearly stooped to some drastic measures. Instead, she has me on a few supplements such as a B-combo Vitamin, a multivitamin, Co-enzyme Q 10 and Fish oils, the last of which I just throw in this smoothie (you can’t taste it).
(Always consult your doctor before taking vitamin or herb supplements!)
This smoothie starts my day off deliciously happy and stays with me for a good 3 hours, through the morning routine with our kids and then a workout.
It’s ideal for a busy mom because it takes less than 5 minutes to whip up. You can change it up any way you like of course - I imagine strawberries instead of blueberries would be good!

[...] Come over to Work It Mom for the recipe. It tastes better than it looks - I am no photographer, that’s for damn sure. [...]
