I am constantly finding great information during my daily travels on the world wide web. It’s a big internet and it is well stocked with brilliant content. Today Who Stole My Stapler proudly introduces:
5 smart articles I found on the internet.
- When I was a kid I had no clue what I wanted to be when I grew up. In fact, I was probably in my late 20’s before I had even half a clue. What I DID know growing up was that I did not want to be mediocre. If you want to avoid mediocrity you should really read Avoiding Mediocrity: Do You Dare to be Different? Dudes and Dudettes, I TOTALLY dare to be different. This article is right on the money. Oh, in case you are wondering, number 5 is my favorite item on the list.
- Here on Who Stole My Stapler we recently chatted about my new obsession with Cathie Black’s absolutely BRILLIANT line of thinking. I officially crowned her as my new mentor although she probably hasn’t gotten that memo yet. Anyhoo, some of you noted that you struggled with finding good mentors well HAVE NO FEAR INTERNET FRIENDS! Inc.com has not one but TWELVE articles on finding a mentor, caretaking your relationship with your mentor and other sage advice.
- Show of hands: how many of you don’t know what you want to be when you grow up? 1, 2, 3….ok…there’s a few of you. Now let me ask this: how many of you have children that are trying to figure out what THEY want to be when THEY grow up? Dingdang…how do you help someone else identify the career of their dreams when you can’t pinpoint your own? Fear not, amigos. Fast Company has some tips for all of you perplexed parents. And really, you might be able to apply some of the tips to **gasp** yourself.
- In a past career life I was a Professional Organizer. I organized closets, offices, relocations and more. It was an exciting and diverse career but there is one thing I never organized: a brain. Times Online has an article called Get Your Life Back: Organise Your Brain. It is full of resources for managing everything from your time to the volumes of internet information you consume each day. I am especially fond of the information on speed reading.
- In the spirit of making sure we all stay delightfully employed I would like to encourage each of you to make sure you are aware of some common workplace taboos. Number 2 on the list is a personal hot button for me. If you are single DO NOT DATE PEOPLE FROM THE WORKPLACE. PERIOD. EVER. It so rarely ends well. Really. I don’t have any personal horror stories but I could tell you awful, hideous stories that I have witnessed first hand. Forgive me for repeating myself but I have to make sure you understand that you should NOT DATE PEOPLE FROM THE WORKPLACE. PERIOD. EVER.
What wisdom have you obtained from the world wide internet lately? You know, BESIDES all the fantabulous information you read here on Who Stole My Stapler.
