Jeans. Skinny, wide-leg, boot cut, trouser, cigarette, boyfriend, straight leg…the list goes on and on. Remember what jean options were available before before designer labels took over the market? Yeah, neither do I. If I do recall correctly, all body types were essentially forced to wear the same styles and it didn’t make for very attractive looks.

Today, your denim choices are virtually unlimited, which is perfect for finding the exact pair to suit your personal style and shape, but the process can be a little daunting. There are A LOT of jeans out there. However, you’ve come to the right place. Last time I checked in, I had painstakingly chosen eight pieces from my closet. Did any of you try to edit your own personal closet? It takes some seriously careful thought!

I pinpointed these pieces as my basics (Step 3), and then made a list of what was missing (Step 4). For me, I didn’t feel like I was missing any crucial pieces of clothing, but I did want to invest in some new accessories to spice up these separates for the upcoming season. Luckily, J. No, I think not.

So, here I am, ready to dig in and do it for the team. I’m ready to show you what eight pieces I found in my own personal closet to wear during the upcoming season.

News Flash: the economy is in the toilet and pocketbooks are snapping shut. Following the lead of In Style’s fashion director, Cynthia Weber Cleary, let’s take a journey through our own closets for some fashion inspiration over the next few weeks.

Have you ever bought an article of clothing and returned home to realize you already own something exactly like it? (Please tell me I’m not the only one. I have this issue with cable knit sweaters.) Considering the sluggish economy, maybe we should stop shopping for the Next Favorite Item, and take a long, hard look at our own closets. Who knows what you might find?

According to Cleary, the secret to a fabulous wardrobe is not about quantity or insanely expensive items, but “all in the edit”.

Okay, but what does that mean?

First things first, let’s all give a hearty congratulations to Metalia, the official Working Closet Accessory Queen. I think she should have a plaque made for her office, yes?

Besides the fact that it was NINETY DEGREES this week, I can’t escape the myriad of magazines and catalogs showcasing some of the most beautiful outerwear options I’ve seen in recent years. I figure, maybe if I write about said coats, the weather might actually cooperate and cool down a bit. (Please hear my prayer, weather gods.)
