Wishing for a lazy day

It's pouring rain. It's been a nutty week. I am exhausted (and now have my non-functioning adrenal glands to blame, yay! - more on this later). All I really want to do is eat too much food while watching reruns of Without a Trace on TV. (We bought this new couch when we moved that has that perfect comfy spot, you know?)

I LOVE what I do, but it's days like this when I miss just having a job. Because right now I'd find a way to get off work and get home and do just what I described. (I know, I know, I was lucky enough to be senior enough to be able to pull of something like that...)

Of course, I hear my husband in my head and he is saying that when I did have a regular job I rarely stayed on the couch watching TV:)

But today it's really all I want to do:)

  • I have experience with this. Stop what you are doing. Create a slack jaw and glassy eyes, stare at the wall and say: nothing.
    Take some slow breaths.
    Still stare some more.
Tell anyone who interrupts (especially your husband) "don't interrupt me I am working." (make sure your office door is closed.
Lie down on anything in the room (including the floor). Stare at ceiling, repeat process.
    Then smile.

  • I don't know about your house but I know in my house if their is a task to get done but I choose to visit a friend instead... Guess what that task is still there when I get home and Channel 7 News is not outside my door ready to do an evening new special....ha! ha!

  • Then just do it and enjoy it! Always listen to yourself. If you feel like doing absolutely nothing, then just veg on the couch. I have days like that at work when I know I have so much I have to do, but I feel like I'm frozen and can't operate. In the end everything always gets done one way or another.

  • I could only wish for a day like that. I have had not only the worst day but the worst month. My electric was shut off end of november and between staying here and there and husband being laid off from work and having no money, I am just beside myself on a daily basis just to keep up with life. I can't wait until income taxes come due. That's when I will be able to have a lazy day.

  • It is nice to have a day that is just yours to do with what you wish. I think that every once in a while we need to take one of those days. It rejuvenates us.

  • I am doing my best to have one of those days today. I think we all need it once in a while. Take the time and relax.

  • well, we all have those days... We can indulge every now and then, I dont' see any reason not to do it..

Relax, take a little rest, and you'll find you'll do better after you've taken your little time for yourself ^_^

  • I find I often want to do something like crazy -- until I can, and then I decide that I really can't take the time, spend the money, do this instead of that...

Because I'm internally contrary like that. Are you the same?

  • Florinda, you have no idea how much I wish we lived in Cali -- I would trade snow and cold for sunny warmth any day!

  • You'd be more energized if you were out here in sunny Southern California with me! :-) We had rain all last weekend, though, and it does seem to issue the call to curl up and veg. But sometimes we all need to curl up and veg anyway, rain or shine!

  • OK, off to Pilates. Really the only way I can stay motivated to work -- otherwise the comfy couch spot is calling my name soo loud I can't ignore it. Hopefully will come back re-energized (and wet from the rain!)

  • it's rainy here, I have an outing tonight, not really motivated to go, but I will.
I haven't been productive today at all
