Getting your kids to clean up after themselves

I have 2 daughters who are 12 years old. The house is just piled up with clothes. 20 seperate piles throughout the house. I constantly ask them to put their stuff away and it's always "in a minute". I always have to do it. Any suggestions? Any help? Any takers on 2 girls?? No, not really.....
