When you have slept 4 solid hours in 3 days....

....and done 5 vomit-filled laundry loads (sorry for the TMI)...

.... and been called in by a crying child into her room literallly 25 times a night...

...and heard the sniffles, cries, coughs, sneezes ... even when they weren't really there, because it's all you are now used to hearing...

....and not been to the gym, or eaten a proper meal, or done enough work, or called friends and family back, or changed your clothes since this morning.... (well, except for the load that is in the laundry, as per above)....

... and bickered with everyone possible, including your husband and your mom, because the fuse is about an inch long at this point...

...and you're dying to go to sleep but know that you'll just have to wake up in a half hour to calm some more tears and coughs...

...all you can do is eat some really bad food and watch some really bad TV.

Which is what I am going to do right now.

  • Oh goodness, Nataly! I'm sorry for the days on end that are no good very bad ones. I hope the TV and the junk food filled up your reserves! And that your daughter is feeling better.

  • Let's face it: being a mom is sometimes torturous. Oh yeah, we know our kids can't help it; they're innocent. That doesn't change the fact that these experiences are...I'll say it again...torturous. It turns us into beings so stretched thin and so wrung out that we don't recognize ourselves.
    Hugs to you. - Paula.

  • Hang in there, Nataly, it WILL get better. This coming from the woman who went for over 3 weeks with little sleep b/c of sick ones. Funny, my big girl is the same way about the bed! Except this past cold (no vomit, phew) had her telling me that sick girls get to sleep in their mommy's bed. It was almost cute for the first two nights then we remembered why we love them in their own beds!!

My heart goes out to you right now. Must I remind you to breathe ;)!!

  • oh wow! i know you usually work on the weekends but i think you more than NEED (not even deserve but NEED) hubby to take over tonight/tomorrow while you SLEEP! the world is just so much harder to deal with when you have more than 1 night of less than 5 hours of sleep in a row!

btw, wouldnt it be nice if we could 'bank' sleep and share it with others? random wish for the day LOL

  • Grin and Bear It (great screen name btw) -- ugh, that sounds worse than mine and I don't have an annoying boss (well, I do -- it's the work me, wondering when the work will get done:) I hope it gets better soon for you.

MaryP -- my kiddo is 3.5 and I've been wishing for her to be able to sleep in our bed just once, but to no avail -- she will not even lie down with us.:)

Last night was slightly better, so my fingers are crossed for today!

  • I was going to suggest that you bring her to bed with you, as it's much less disruptive of your sleep if she's right there with you -- then I read Grin and Bear It's comment and though, "Oh, right. Vomit."

    Never mind that idea, then.

We've all been there, but knowing that doesn't make your poor weary brain and body any better rested. I hope the girl turns a corner today and that you get some glorious, glorious sleep -- soon!

  • I remember those days with my son. Sleep deprivation is rough. Just remember these times don't last. Hope all goes well.

  • I know exactly how you feel, having been woken up at 2am this morning to the sound of my daughter throwing up IN the bed right beside me. Then of course as I try to crawl around it to get out of bed, I lose my balance and fall in it. LOL, what a wonderful start to my day, then to top it off, I hear that my boss made a snide comment about me not being at work today! Think I'll take dear daughter over to his house and she can throw up in his bed tonight. Ha, I wish! Hang in there, Nataly, eventually it will get better. Good Luck.
