Palin Sickness

Okay, so what I am about to say is not going to make me many friends, but I have an opinion and what good is it if I don't let it be known, right? Let me start off by saying that I am not a political genius. My profession is not based in politics. I was not born to wealth and I know the word struggle very personally. As I am sure, many of you do in your own way. I am just your average, hard working mom.
That being said, I feel that this election is so very important. I never before have been so into a presidential camaign. Granted, I am young, but I am just like everyone else out there feeling the effects of the current and previous administration. So Nataly, you asked it, and here it goes. Aahem...
I definitlely respect Governor Palin as a mother and a wife. I sympathize with her family's situation. Teenage pregnancy is unfortunate. When you believe in abstinence only education, that is the risk you take. I believe in teaching our daughters to be well informed, strong independent women. Yes, abstinence is the best way, but teaching them it's the only way is a gamble.
Why are we talking about the fact that she is a mother so much? Maybe it's because she is stating it as one of her qualifications! She herself exclaimed that she is a PTA and hockey mom! Correct me if I am wrong, but we've never heard that from former vp nominees. She and the McCain/Palin campaign staff are counting on the ignorant women out there to vote for them for the mere fact that she is a woman and a mother. It's insulting. We are discussing exactly what the republican party wants us to discuss. It distracts us from asking them what really matters. Not only that, they are counting on us to get riled up in the whole idea that women in politics being questioned about their family priorities is sexist. It makes their campaign stronger. The democratic party's biggest weakness is Hillary. Don't take that in the wrong way. What I mean is that the voters for Hillary are their biggest weakness. McCain's campaing staff knew it. They couldn't get Hillary on their ticket, so shucks, why not get another woman? Who'd notice the difference anyway, right? Ugh.
To think that of all the hard work that the women's suffrage and feminist movement went through during the 20th century to present has paved the way for THIS woman to stand up and make the republican, white man roar is just infuriating! When she says she's fought the good ole boys in government I can't help but laugh. She has let them use her as a pawn in their race against Obama. Let's not forget that a pawn in chess is of the lowest value. I think that truly, she will hold no value in the McCain administration if elected. She merely has been used as a tactic. How humiliating.
