To Gardilsil or not to Gardilsil that is the question.

Just recently my daughter had a doctor's appointment to update her shot records.  My daughter is 14 years old and we were asked about her recieving the Gardilsil shot.  I recall when the product was first introduced their was a big back slash.  Now there is a big marketing campiagn about being "One Less" to get cervical cancer.  She has not gotten the shot yet because we are still researching Gardilsil.  Does anyone know why some parent have not OK the shot for their daughter or has OK the shot.  Please weigh in on this topic.  Thanks

  • I will not give this to my daughter. There aren't enough actual humans that have had this to research long term possible effects. It doesn't protect against all strands of HPV anyways. I just don't think we know enough about it to warrant getting it.

My aunt did get this for my cousin. She said the spot is sore for several days but otherwise she didn't feel anything. Like I said though, we don't know what it will actually do to the body in like 10 years or so. Everyone is entitled to their own choice, just like with flu shots. We don't get those either.
