Holiday? What holiday?

Apparently some people have today off for Columbus Day - traffic was lighter this morning, and it's lighter online too, but I don't personally know anyone who's not at work or school. Also, Canadians are celebrating Thanksgiving Day today - have a wonderful one!

But it's just a regular crazy Monday for me. My boss called in sick, and I've rescheduled an interview we were supposed to have today - hopefully he'll be back tomorrow so we can meet with this job candidate. I'm bouncing around among the various items on my task list for today. It will be a short week in the office, since we have a staff retreat on Friday.

Meanwhile, I'm worrying about my husband, who's heading to the doctor to see about a scratch, or zit, or bump, or something on his nose that's been bleeding for half the morning. I'm waiting to hear from him, and ready to head out the door if he needs me for anything...

  • Kate - I spoke to my boss myself and he did sound a bit under the weather, but I'll admit the thought that he wanted a three-day weekend DID cross my mind! :-)

  • hmm thinking maybe the boss was 'sick' and decided he wanted to celebrate the holiday? :) Glad your hubby has stopped bleeding! Smart move to go the to doc - why do they always wait until the last possible time?! Here's to negative biopsies!! :)

  • I've been at work but can't say I've gotten a lot done - a bit unfocused, I'm afraid. :-) My husband's back from the doctor and didn't need me to come home. The funny thing is that he's had this bump on his nose for a few weeks, and had just decided yesterday that he needed to call his doctor about it - and then it started up with the bleeding this morning. The doctor cauterized the spot on his nose, so no more bleeding. But they've sent the tissue out for biopsy - he has some history of skin cancer lesions - so we'll know more in a few days.

  • Most people I know are working today as well! Really hope everything is OK with your husband. Hopefully it's not a big deal. Glad he is going to the dr - most men i know put that off and just "wing" it!

  • I also must work today. But, my daycare provider has today off. That means it is the hubby's turn to stay home with the two little ones. And, surprisingly, he has only called me twice with questions. Meanwhile, I am watching the seconds tick by until I can go home as well.

  • Florinda, hope everything turns out ok with your husband.
    I've never worked at a company that had Columbus Day off. Today was a bit different than other working days because my daughter is home from school and we took her to the museum in the am, until grandparents took over so my husband and I could work.
