Wake Up Sleepy Head and Get Into Bed!

I know, the actual saying is "Wake Up Sleepy Head and Get OUT of Bed!", but for me and my family that doesn't always apply. Usually on weekends, we wake up and all get back into bed before we start our day. It is our way to spend time together in a relaxed manner and cuddle. My husband, 1-year old son, and I get back under the covers and just hang out. Sometimes we flip the TV on, sometimes we just stare in amazement at the changes my son has undergone in the last year.
I guess the ritual started when my son was born. His Pack 'n Play was right next to our bed and on weekends, I would gather him up, all swaddled and cute, and bring him in bed so my husband, son and I could just be together amongst the comfort of blankets and pillows. Throughout the year, we continued our ritual, even though that ment me getting up, going to the nursery, gathering up the now no longer swaddled baby, and bringing him back for some much needed and relaxed cuddle time.
During our weekends, I have noticed that our son has gone from being completly stationary to bouncing and walking all over the bed. He has gone from staring at all the new surroundings to wanting to touch everything to smiling and waving at anything that he sees. He has gone from having fine black baby hair to long blonde little boy hair. A gummed mouth has tranitioned to holding seven teeth. Best of all, his two arms which used to be tucked in his blanket now wrap around my neck with the force of a hug.
Yes, our weekend ritual has changed over the last year but it gets better and better every week. I hope that we can continue to do this for as long as we can get up and get back into bed with some comforting blankets, pillows, and hugs all around! :)
