According to this article, the idea that one partner in a relationship should be providing the majority of the income - i.e. be the breadwinner - is quickly becoming out-dated in the UK.
"Although a third of men still believe that the role of "breadwinner" is relevant to today's society, less than a quarter (23 per cent) of women feel the same way."
