If at all possible fly during his nap or bed time. We have flown a few times with my daughter and we let her crawl around (she is 10 months) and get out as much energy as possible before we fly, feed her a bottle when we take off and she is asleep mid-way through. Also if you can make sure to sit next to each other so you don't have to worry if you trade him back and forth or he wants to hang on to both of you. My daughter also loved looking out the window as we took off. I am a nervous flyer but she enjoyed take off to much it kept me calm.
