My daughter, son, and I eat around 4. My husband comes home between 5-7. That is when he eats. During the weekend, we try to sit down together for one meal. Try is the magic word. But I always eat with them. I make it fun too. They miss not having Daddy during dinner. We lay out a blanket in the living room and have a picnic. They love it!!
I did it cold turkey with my daughter when she was three. I was pregnant and due in May and I wanted her off of the "paci". She cried for about an hour during her nap. Same thing at bed time. It was during Christmas time. I had taken two of her favorite ones and put ribbon on them and she hung them on the tree. She loved hanging them up this past Christmas.
My original idea was going to take a pacifier along with my daughter to a build a bear store. Have her pick whatever she wanted and have the "paci" put inside the bear. Then she could sleep with the bear and it would bring her comfort because she knew her "paci" was close.
I thought it was going to be horrible but it actually it wasn't bad at all.
Congratualtions on baby #2. And good luck. :)
