Wow, Mommy on the go and Mummy of two have really done my job for me! When I asked that question last year, I was wondering what people were paying for childcare to see how it compared to the cost of hosting an au pair, just as a bit of research. I didn't see these responses till just now, but I couldn't agree more with these two happy host moms. My life took a total turn for the better the day our au pair came into our home. The extra help around the house gives me a lot more quality time with my family and we love that our girls have picked up quite a bit of Spanish! Can anyone recommend a nanny agency in NYC? I am starting work this fall, and have to search for a nanny for my newborn daughter; there are so many agencies out there (as well as other types of nanny search resources) and I'm feeling a bit overwhelm
Answered on 30th July 2008:
Do you happen to have an extra bedroom? (I know, I know - it's NYC, why am I even asking?) But if you do, hosting an au pair is a great option. If you'd like to look into it, Cultural Care is now offering consultative matching where you can talk to a placement manager and get matched with potential au pairs before you even apply to the program. It's nice because it doesn't cost a thing and if you don't like your matches, you're not obligated to hire through Cultural Care. Let me know if you'd me to help get you started.

Thank you so much for your advice. I do also tutor, but not enough to supplement. I would love some info on your au pair business. I am in CT. I look forward to hearing from you!!
