What do you make for dinner when it's too hot to cook?
Answered on 24th November 2009:
Sandwiches, mac & cheese on the stove top, or we order out or *gasp* run through a drive thru. I know, i know its bad. But sometimes its all we feel like doing for dinner. Sometimes we will grill outside too. We try to grill most of our food and keep house-cooked food to a minimum.

What's less stressful for you? Hosting guests for Thanksgiving or traveling to visit family or friends?
Answered on 24th November 2009:
Traveling to other family members. I live in a small apartment and we always, for both Thanksgiving and Christmas, have to go out and make a tour with our now 2 year old son. Not fun. I would love it if I had a huge house to have all of our family over at once. Get it done and out of the way and be in the comfort of my own place for once. Cooking is not an issue. Decorating is fun to me and being a hostess has always been something I could do well.

So, what do you do? I work in commercial real estate finance for New York Life. I am the first female vice president they have had here. I have busted my butt to get where I am, especially in this male dominated industry. I have an MBA and I make really good money right now....but my babies, I miss them. My company is so "old school" they would never let me work part time, actually this job cannot be done part time. After returning from maternity leave I asked if I could work 7-4pm unless something was pressing where I needed to stay late.....and they said NO. They said someone at my level cannot work flex time. It sucks. I have an hour commute each way, so by the time I get home I have an hour with my two kids and that includes dinner and bath. I don't even see them in the morning because they are still sleeping when I leave.
Ugh, but with all that being said. I feel like it would be ridiculous to leave this career in this economy when people are dying for work. I have so many fears, like what if I leave and my husband loses his job or something. I am stressed about this everyday.
Thanks for letting me get this off my chest. I feel like I have no one to talk to about this. My friends just say, why don't you ask to work from home or something. But it is not an option.
What is your situation, are you in the same boat?
Thanks again!
