I think it depends on the frame. I did a bunch of research into this when I was looking to trade in my Trailblazer a few months back. I'd call any SUV that sits on a truck frame a truck. Anything that is on a car frame, or is designed for a "car-like ride" is either a really big car, or a mini-van sans the sliding doors. Your thoughts?
