What is the one thing that you cannot bring yourself to cut back on, even with the recession (or whatever you want to call it)? Mine is our once a month cleaning service. I cannot give that up no matter what. What's yours?”

  • Hmmm...One thing I cannot cut back on is beauty products, from skin to hair care, body mosturizers and oils, sensitive skin soaps, eyeshadow and eyeliner...you name it, they all make my day

  • For me it's the weekly sushi lunch with the hubby. It's expensive (although we go on half-price day), but it's our one time together -- alone.

  • Well it's actually something my son does. He has just started high school and says the lunch room line for the regular (ie discount) lunch meal is so long that he doesn't have enough time to stand in it and then eat. So he goes to the pizza line and with a purchased drink it comes to about $6.50 a day vs the $2.75/day for regular meal. That adds up by the end of the month, but I don't want to make an issue of it since I know he prefers pizza and one piece just doesn't fill him up. I should for money tightening reasons, but can't.

  • For me it is groceries! I read a great article in O Magazine about how that seems to be the first place families cut costs. Not us! I believe in feeding my kids healthy, organic food that doesn't come in a plastic container. It is tough on our budget because it is cheaper to eat frozen or canned food than it is to eat fresh. I don't understand how that works but it is true! Now if it came to a choice between the cleaning service and food....that could be a difficult decision :-

  • Ha ha! It seems like most of us can't - or more likely - don't want to make time to clean! We all have such little free time as it is why spend it scrubbing. Once you have a cleaning person, you will not know how to function without it, it's true!

  • Cleaning service is at the top of my list! Worth every penny!!!! I can't function in a messy house.

  • Cleaning service. It'll be the last thing we cut from the budget because it saves my sanity, and that's worth more than $$$.
