Your Open QuestionShow me another » Need advice for low motivated first grade son!? I have a 6 year old son. I have attempted to create many opportunities for him to participate in a variety of extracurricular activities (golf, karate, basketball, soccer, wrestling, cooking class, crafts, etc..). He has lots of energy, likes to be active and I feel it is my responsibility to expose him to as many different interests as possible. He does NOT want to participate in any of these "organized" activities? He will try it once and then is no longer interested. Why is this? What can I do to encourage him in this area? Amy I wrong for pushing this? Help! 3 minutes ago - 4 days left to answer.”

  • hopefully this answer isnt too late. but my little guy wont do anything until he has a chance to see how other kids do things. He also does much better if he has a friend participating with him. he likes compitetiion but not with kids he doesnt know. or maybe... even though he is active he really isnt interested in physical stuff right now. is there a science center near you? maybe he likes active hands on experiments. check out Parks & Recreation classes in your city. maybe karate? sports that are more singular motivated. or maybe a good male mentor to show him the way so he feels like he has an advantage in the sport.
