Olive Garden Lasagna

Family dinners at Olive Garden have become something of an American tradition. The food may not be exactly authentic, but it definitely tastes great. Lasagna is always a fan favorite, so try this out for a weeknight dinner to bring the fun home. It’s hard to go wrong with meat and cheese.

 

 

Serves: 6 / Prep Time: 30 mins. / Cook Time: 1 hr.

 

Ingredients:

1 1/2 lb. ground beef

1 oz. sweet Italian sausage

2 C. nonfat milk

4 eggs

6 garlic cloves, minced

2 1/2 C. ricotta cheese 

1/2 C. parmesan cheese, grated 

2 C. mozzarella cheese, shredded

1 C. onion, chopped

1/2 C. red pepper, chopped

1/2 C. green pepper, chopped

2 T. basil

1 T. oregano

2 C. tomato puree

9 lasagna noodles

Salt and pepper to taste

 

Directions:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Brown you beef in a large skillet with the sausage until cooked through. Drain the excess fat. Boil water in a large pot, salted. Add the lasagna noodles and cook according to package directions. Place pasta on a prepared baking sheet. In a medium skillet add the tomatoes, garlic, peppers, and onion. Cook for 20 minutes and then add the meat and seasonings. Continue heating for 5 minutes and set aside. In a bowl, combine the cheeses, eggs, and milk and stir together. Cover the bottom of a baking dish with the meat sauce and top with 3 noodles. Add half the cheese mixture and more meat sauce. Repeat until finished. Add extra grated parmesan on top if desired. Cook for 1 hour and serve warm.
